HMONG RETURNEES MOVED TO NEW LOCATION, December 3, 2007 PDF  | Print |

December 3, 2007, Sources reported from Laos to Hmong International Human Rights Watch that the Lao PDR Government has relocated the entire group of Hmong Returnees from the Jungle in Meaung Met to the newly developed Village of Palak, Laos.

Based on the information we received, the majority of the group of 438 that was surrendered on October 12, 2006 in Meaung Met has integrated into the larger community. The rest of the group has been transferred to Palak Village on December 3, 2007. Currently, there are 53 families total in the Palak Village, which included the returnees from Thailand that were deported on June 9, 2007. Palak Village is a newly developed site that the Lao PDR Government constructed for building new houses for the Hmong returnees.
